The Victron Multiplus Inverter Charger

The multiplus inverter charger is a very powerful and multifunctional piece of equipment, it boasts some rather unique features, which I will talk about in this video. The multiplus inverter charger can be used in many different system types including. Off Grid, Energy Storage & Generator Hybrid.

The Unique Power Assist Function

The MultiPlus will prevent overloading of a limited AC power source, such as a generator or shore power connection. First, battery charging will automatically be reduced when otherwise an overload would occur. The second level will boost the output of a generator or shore side supply with power taken from the battery.

Uninterrupted AC Power

In the event of a grid failure, or when shore or generator power is disconnected, the inverter within the Multi is automatically activated and takes over the supply to the connected loads. This happens in less than 20 milliseconds, so fast that computers and other electronic equipment will continue to operate without disruption.

Virtually Unlimited Power Thanks To Parallel Operation

Up to 6 Multiplus inverter chargers can operate in parallel to achieve higher power output. Three phase or split phase operation is also possible. Up To 18 Multiplus Inverters can be used in a single system. 6 In Parallel Per Phase.  Please check the datasheets to see which models have paralleling, three phase and split phase capabilities.

Remote Monitoring and Control

Monitor and control your MultiPlus and system or systems' locally over LAN or remotely via the internet from anywhere in the world, using the free VRM app and free VRM portal website. Access can be from a phone, tablet, laptop or PC for multiple operating systems. There is no end to the level of control, via the required Color Control GX or Venus GX, from adjusting your MultiPlus to setting a Geofence for hire vehicles and more.

Uses of the Multiplus Inverter Charger

The Victron Multiplus Inverter Charger can be used within several types of systems. Some of these systems include the following. Off Grid, Energy Storage, Marine Power, Automotive Energy & Generator Hybrid. 

 Let me give a brief description of what these systems are. 

Off Grid. An off grid system is a system in which there is no connection to the public power grid whatsoever. All created via renewable energy sources or a generator, and stored in batteries. For use when it is needed. 

Energy Storage. An energy storage system, is a system used to store excess energy created on a pv system, in a battery, for use when it is needed. 

Marine Power. Marine power systems are used on boats, yachts, barges and other vessels. Marine systems are very similar to off grid systems.  

Automotive Energy. The most common type of Automotive Energy System is the solar panel system commonly installed on campervans. Many campervans also have DC- DC Chargers which are used to replenish the battery from the vehicle's alternator. There are also electrical systems installed in many other types of vehicles. Such as,  Ambulances, Fire Engines and so on. 

Generator Hybrid. A generator hybrid is a system which uses an inverter charger, to charge a battery, with excess energy from a petrol or diesel generator. Once the batteries are full, the generator can be turned off. The inverter charger now takes over supplying the power to the loads.
